At Rowena Academy, our community is very important to us and we are continually working to maintain and build our links within it. We value the contribution that all stakeholders in the community make to our academy.

We are very fortunate to be able to draw upon the expertise of many local professionals to work with the children.  Our local Police Officers offer advice and support, raising awareness of safety issues, such as ‘stranger danger’, as well as supporting our pupil’s understanding of the role of the police, supporting our careers related learning work, and building positive relationships with our pupils so that they recognise them within the community. Our local ambulance services and fire services also kindly give their time to support our careers related learning in the academy.

We have a very strong link with our local church, St Peter’s Church, Conisbrough, visiting it to support our curriculum and for events such as Christingle, and Rev. Martijn Mugge and his team deliver interactive assemblies throughout the year, where the children’s knowledge of Christianity is deepened.

Local visits are planned to enhance the children’s learning and awareness of their local heritage, including visiting and studying Consibrough Castle. Children take part in many events throughout the year and we embrace opportunities to enhance our vision of becoming Consibrough’s future citizens.

We have links with Asda who are very supportive of our school and its fundraising activities, and Active Fusion our sports provider, and also our local supply staff providers are also very supportive of our events and fundraising activities.

Our Academy Council also embrace and continue to develop our community links including planning events such as food bank donations for the local Doncaster food bank, clothing donations and shoebox appeal.

Our Choir embraces the strong link we have with Rowena House Residential Care Home to whom they have performed various times, enjoyed by all. Rowena House residents also join us for various events throughout the year, including in class learning, craft and creative events, charity events, and even kindly judge competitions for us. This kind of occasion offers our pupils a memorable experience and an opportunity to bridge the generations, and meaningful opportunities to understand how to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society.

As a school, we liaise with other local schools in a number of ways. We have close links with our Local Junior School, Morley Place Academy and local Secondary School, De Warenne Academy. Our children engage in various activities with both schools, where they have met with their peers from other schools who share their passion and engage in quality activities to stretch and challenge them in their field. We engage in collaborative projects with the schools and the local community such as our annual collaborative Remembrance Day display and ceremony, where each school, the local church, local care home, and other contributors from the local community, add to our creative collaboration which is then displayed on the front of Rowena Academy across Remembrance Weekend to allow time for the local community to pay their respects. We also engage in assessment moderation with other Doncaster schools to ensure consistency in teacher assessment.

Thank you to all of our members of our local community who support us and also to the following organisations:
