Spelling Challenge

In light of national changes to the curriculum we are launching our new ‘Spelling Challenge’ words.

Please find below lists of the new words that your child will be learning to spell at some point in school. The lists comprise of many common ‘exception’ words. Exception words are words in which the English spelling code works in an unusual or uncommon way, they may be exceptions to spelling rules, or words which use a particular combination of letters to represent sound patterns in a rare or unique way.
